DEPARTMENTAL MISSION STATEMENT

The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai demonstrates excellence in all facets of clinical care, education, and research. Internationally recognized for breakthroughs in the field, our Department continues a steady growth trajectory, expanding our faculty, services, and research activities at the Head and Neck Cancer Research Program. All of our divisions and services embrace a multidisciplinary approach and feature complication reduction programs to improve quality and patient outcomes throughout the Mount Sinai Health System.

OVERVIEW OF FELLOWSHIP

The Mount Sinai Health System Rhinology Fellowship is a one year fellowship offering advanced endoscopic surgical training in rhinology and skullbase surgery. The fellow will rotate with all five fellowship trained rhinologists at the five main hospitals within the Mount Sinai Health System. This includes the Mount Sinai Hospital, The Beth Israel Hospital, The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, and the Elmhurst Hospital Center. The health system offers a high volume, tertiary care experience with more than 1200 endoscopic sinus cases and over 100 skullbase cases performed each year. Cases include revision endoscopic sinus, advanced frontal, orbital and optic nerve decompressions, endoscopic dacrocystorhinostomy, and extended skullbase approaches with complex closure techniques. The fellow will also have ample opportunity for research as well as dedicated research time.

Research Responsibilities:

Fellows are highly encouraged to participate in multiple investigator-initiated studies and/or industry-sponsored trials. In addition, there is significant experience in disruptive technologies and their clinical use. Our faculty has forged groundbreaking technological developments, such as applications of virtual reality (VR) in education, surgical planning, and patient engagement. This also includes AI and deep learning algorithms in clinical applications.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT

Applicants must be board eligible/board certified in Otolaryngology.
